Flexible, adaptable and efficient: cobots in manufacturing.

The workplace of the future is a place where humans and machines work hand in hand. Collaborative robots are industrial robots that work together with humans and are not separated from them in the production process. The system is very flexible and can be used in a wide variety of areas. The division of work between humans and machines can be redesigned so that the robot takes over monotonous, dangerous or physically demanding tasks, while the worker can focus on challenging assembly work and creative troubleshooting. Safety systems play an important role in human-robot collaboration (HRC).

The reach of a cobot is between 944 mm - 1889 mm and handles a payload of 5 - 25 kg. With customized platforms to stabilize and adapt the workstation, the cobot can be customized to fit the needs. Although cobots have been designed to work with humans, safety must be checked with collaborative robots EN ISO 10218, parts 1, 2 and ISO/TS 15066.

How can I achieve risk reduction in human-robot collaboration (HRC) according to EN ISO 10218-2 and ISO/TS 15066?

1. method: safety directed stop (co-existence)
When entering the collaboration space, the robot is in safe operational stop. When leaving, the robot continues its movement by quitting or automatically. The level of speed is set based on the risk assessment.

2. manual guidance (sequential cooperation)
The human may only approach the stationary robot. When the confirmation device is activated, the robot can be manually guided at a safely reduced speed. The level of speed is defined by the risk assessment.

3. speed and distance monitoring (parallel cooperation)
Non-separating protective devices are used in such a way that persons can approach the robot at any time without risk. The distance between the person and the robot is monitored and the speed is adapted accordingly. Before a collision occurs, the robot shuts down.

4. power and force limitation (collaboration)
A collision of human and robot is possible under condition that the biomechanical limits are respected.

Die Kombination verschiedener Methoden ist möglich wie z.B. die Kombination von Methode 3 und 4.

We integrate robots for you, design individual grippers, provide support for quality inspection with the vision system and everything else you need. So your manufacturing solution with the cobot is professionally equipped and risk assessed for a carefree human-machine collaboration.
