A direct path – mobile robot (AGV) for dormakaba
As a center of expertise for locking technology and a supplier of access control solutions, dormakaba manufactures components that – depending on the requirements – can be combined to create integrated systems. All from a single source. The international company with headquarters and factories in Wetzikon has manufactured keys and locking cylinders for more than 150 years.

Task
Milling and punching machines that were developed and manufactured in-house produce cylinder parts with maximum precision. In order to coordinate the keys and cylinders, which are now partly electronically coded, dormakaba’s manufacturing facilities needed a clever control system to be able to produce the right quantity and the right coding of the cylinder-key pairs just in time. Automated material transport was considered and planned for the renovation of the production facilities.

Solution
Autonomous, slim, agile robots offer major advantages in terms of internal logistics. Together with a master controller, such as SAP, and the fleet manager, the mobile Robotec robots allow for more flexible, optimized autonomous material transport.
The fleet manager takes on the tasks of traffic and battery management as well as order processing. The mobile robots – in various strength classes – can autonomously detect human beings and obstacles and automatically calculate the optimal, collision-free path.
